I’m excited to announce my newest wellness endeavor: I’m going cruising aboard the Jillian Michaels Ultimate Wellness Cruise! Sailing from Miami to the Caribbean October 21st through the 25th, this will be a wellness vacation that will help with the transformation into the new you.
In addition to leading group workouts onboard, I will doing intense and fun beach workouts. While onboard, you’ll be able to gain knowledge from other health and wellness experts, including Dr. Katja Van Herle, Jo Ann McKarus, Paige Padgett, and fitness instructors Jeanette Jenkins, Steve Lee, Basheerah Ahmad, Madelene Karlsson, and Heidi Rhoades. Oh, and Jillian will also be there?
With all of the encouragement and expertise on board, you’ll have the tools you need to transform, while on a vacation that will change your life. Join me as I embark on this amazing journey with picturesque destinations, a healthy nightlife, the greatest wellness experts in the field, and the opportunity to take charge of your own life!!!

FIT Kids Act!!!
Childhood obesity in our country has now reached epidemic proportions. In fact, by 2010, 20% of U.S. children are expected to be obese, putting them at greater risk of developing and dying from heart disease as adults. For the sake of our children’s health it is imperative that we, as a nation, take steps now to reverse this trend before it is too late.
While many factors have contributed to this alarming rise in overweight children, one of the main culprits is a decrease in the physical activity levels of today’s youth, and we need the help of schools to address this. The Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans recommend that children engage in sixty minutes or more of physical activity each day, so kids need to get some of that activity at school. Fit and active kids are not only healthier, but research also indicates that their school performance is improved.
That’s why the American Heart Association supports the Fitness Integrated with Teaching (FIT) Kids Act. This federal legislation has been introduced by Representatives Ron Kind (D-WI) and Zach Wamp (R-TN) in the House of Representatives, and by Senators Tom Harkin (D-IA) and John Ensign (R-NV) in the Senate. The bill amends the No Child Left Behind Act to ensure that kids learn how to be responsible for their health and that they are active during the school day.
But to get this critical piece of legislation passed we must reach out to our legislators and
impress upon them the importance of making our kids health a priority … and that is

This just in… New research from a 13 year study reveals just how much exercise women need to keep the fat off as they age – and it’s a lot.
At least an hour of moderate activity a day is needed for older women at a healthy weight who aren’t dieting. For those who are already overweight – and that’s most American women – even more exercise is called for to avoid gaining weight without eating less. But please remember, even if you can’t get an hour in; some exercise is better than none!!!

5K = Fun + Fitness
When was the last time you participated in a 5k event? They’re a great way to exercise while socializing!!! 5K’s are short distance races (approx 3.1 miles) which are typically runs but there are plenty of people that walk them…so sign up and lace up!!! Most good specialty running stores organize there own weekly runs which help get you ready for short or long distance races. Check your local shops. If you’re in the Miami area stop by Foot Works, they have amazing training programs for all..
