Vitamin C vs Cancer Growth!!!
New Zealand scientists claim, Vitamin C can help curb the growth of cancer cells!!! They found that ”Tumors with low vitamin C levels had more of a protein called HIF-1 which allows them to thrive in conditions of stress.”
These findings may prove extremely beneficial in limiting the rate of tumor growth and preventing the formation of solid tumors. Very promising, not just in the form of prevention but also as a cure…
More reasons to eat Blueberries!!!
A recent study published in the Journal of Nutrition describes the outcome of a trial of obese men and women with metabolic syndrome which found a protective effect for blueberries against several cardiovascular disease risk factors. Metabolic syndrome is a group of factors that include reduced high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol, high triglyceride levels, hypertension, impaired glucose tolerance, abdominal obesity, and greater oxidative stress and inflammation. Having several of these risk factors increases the risk of developing cardiovascular disease and diabetes.

The investigation is the first longitudinal study to demonstrate an association between insufficient vitamin D levels and the subsequent development of Parkinson’s disease. The vitamin has shown neuroprotective effects via antioxidative mechanisms, immunomodulation, enhanced nerve conduction and other means.” LEF

Lack of Sleep, a factor in Obesity!!!
The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition recently suggested that “sleep restriction may be one of the environmental factors that contributes to the obesity epidemic.” Their study showed that normal-weight individuals consumed several hundred extra calories a day when they had gotten just 4 hours of sleep compared to a full eight hours.
In addition, cortisol (stress hormone) rises with lack of sleep and growth hormone (youth hormone) declines!!!
Yes! Sleep is an important factor in overall wellness!!!
Acetaminophen linked to Acute Liver Failure!!!
Studies have shown when Acetaminophen is ingested, a rapid depletion of glutathione (the body’s master antioxidant) in the liver occurs. This results in free radical destruction of liver cells!!!
